Naming Convention i'
Usage
History
- i' originated from the original language spoken in Three-Rivers, before the pervasive growth of the Trade tongue, Common.
- i' was orignally a title for any person, meaning literally "from." Thus, when before a family or house name, it translates to "of family x"
- Around 4540, approximately fourty years after the establishment of a true fuedal government in Three-Rivers, i' had become a convention used only for noble houses. Smallfolk dropped the i' and began to use only their family names after their given.
- Recently, Knights of the River have begun to afix a 'd' sound before the i' convention, marking them as knights. Thus, a knight may refer to himself as "Bardrik di'Dashan"
