The Bardic Council
Also known as; The council of Bards, The merry council, The merry guild.
The council began as a group of esteemed bards. There goal was to control the market, and have the greatest bards share the most powerful legends. Today, many would describe the council as the pulse of the bard. Every major ball and meeting in which bards are expected to attend or perform, the council has a hand in. The council exists in almost every major city, and definitly in every human city. In all cities they are present, a building with a Lyre indicates where they reside. Any bard can join the council, but is expected to pay dues. Senoir members are elected in nations, and represent the subgroups of bards throughout Therra in what is known as the Bardic Council meeting. The large gnomish airship, the Flamptinfin, is reserved once a year for a special rate for the Bardic council meeting. Here all major happenings are discussed, as well as facts verified. Many events that occur in Therra cause alot of controversy, and people look to the council for fact-checking. Thats not to say the Council doesn't have it's own bias and interests at heart, but they do the job nonetheless. The council is both hated and loved by major cities. For one, the council demands a higher rate for members performing in cities. Other competitive councils have tried to form themselves, but they always get crushed. The Lyre has been the symbol for as long as anyone can remember, and members often (though not through requirement) have an according tattoo.
