"Its the balance. It was there in the beggining, Its gonna be here tommorow, and I'm pretty sure it's here now."

Dregin Guro, Fruit vendor/ free Street Philosopher, Maddocks Gate

The Balance

This can describe one of two things. Mostly, among enlightened and highly wise clergy, the Balance refers to the 6 primal forces found in Therra. They don't influence Therra, they are Therra. The intersection between all of the forces is what created Therra, it was not deliberate nor accidental. They are White / Black , Heat / Cold  and Earth / Moon. The second thing the Balance can refer to is Therra itself, but only Demigods describe the world this way, because only they truly understand the nature of things. Demigods are the child of two intersecting balances, merged with Therra itself. Therfore, they take on the form of something known to Therran peoples, but also are bound by the ideals of their balance. If a Demigod should betray his law, which is possible, he or she is condemned to mortallity. This is terrible to the natural world, as it upsets the balance. Though a new Demigod is brought to being, the time in which none exist in the world, complete choas ensues. This has only occured on three occassions, and the world suffered imensly on all of them. The Demigods are as follows:

White / Heat

Chaotic Good

Domains: Destiny, Dream, Fey, Chaos, Fire, Good, Luck, Oracle, Passion, Pleasure, Purification, Sun

Associations: Luck, Beating the odds, Fate

Power Crescendo: Daytime of Summer

White Heat is the passion of goodness. It appears during worthy causes, and is often represented by a bronze man with a flaming scimitar. It is also associated with vigalant justice and luck. Love itself is one of the main focuses of White Heat. It finds itself againts Black Heat, though Black Cold is its true nemisis. It allies most often with White Earth and Heat Earth, both interested in the fruits of passion WH can provide. A pheonix is another common form of WH. White Heat does not have a large fellowship, rather, every commonman pays homage to it when in need. The gambler and the warrior alike will speak the following phrase before putting his money or life on the line;

"May my heart speak truth, but if it falters, let my passion move me to gain. 'Lest everything fails, pheonix take reign."

White / Earth

Neutral Good

Domains: Creation, Life, Community, Earth, Feast, Good, Ocean, Plant, Renewel, Spider, Storm, Water, Weather, Air

Associations: New life, Harvest, Infants, Flowers

Power Crescendo: Daytime of Spring

White Earth is most often represented by a healthy stag with a thick brown coat of fur, with stark white horns. In his mouth, a bushel of grain is often present. He is most potent during the daytime of spring. She is at ends with Black Moon, because he stands for unnatural evil and desecration of Earth. Black Earth is WE's strongest nemisis however, because it stands for the destruction of life, and death. A common Therran tattoo represents the two figures pulling on the outline of a man, representing their struggle to keep a single life alive and accepting that BE ultimatly wins over every life, but new life will arrive.

Churches

Followers of Allesiona

Metropolis Sized Fellowship

80% Human, 10% Half-human, 3% Elf, 3% Dwarf, 3% Halfling, 1% other.

They call themselves followers of Allesiona. Allesiona is described as the stag mentioned above, and he is worshiped and said to protect all of his followers. This is untrue. The church of WE is a sect of mainly human driven clergy. It is found in all human kingdoms of the south, and Maddocks gate. The north has pledged with White Cold, which has caused a major rift in Therran alliance. Its members practice the idea of recreation and renewel. Driuds also are in tune with this force, but they don't associate with the society of man. Forgiveness is a major message, and the clergy appears at every hanging and protests. They are adamently peacefull, and believe that all life should be preserved. They have attempted to protest wars between man and orc on the southern borders, to no avail. In fact, in an event known only as the Black day, four hundred high clergy joined hands and attempted to create a wall between the orcs and the Allies forces. This was disasterious, and resulted not only in every single FoA's death, but also gave the orcs first strike advantage that many scholars and war strategiests attribute to the massive loss faced by the Allies. Ironically, FoA has declared 'War' on the northern societies. They worship WC, which is judgement and logic. FoA has declared all of them enemies of the people, and rules have been broken to deal with WC.

Druids

Small Sized Fellowship

Races vary greatly

All druids pay homage to the Stag. They don't associate at all with the FoA, but the wisest of druids can see that they are accomplishing the same thing to the same Demi.

White / Cold

Lawful Good

Domains: Air, Cold, Law, Good, Community, Herald, Nobility, Protection, Balance, Metal, Fate, Truth, Exorcism

Chaotic Evil

Neutral Evil

Black / Cold

Lawful Evil

Domains: Necromancy, Death, Law, Evil

Associations: Death, Evil Decay, Fate, Heartlessness.

Power Crescendo: Moonless Midnight Winter

Black Cold is most often referred to as fate. It is seen as one of the most blind evils in the philosophies. It differs from hell and devils and such in that it doesn't choose to hurt or threaten good, it simply comes in the night and does it's work. It is both unavoidable and all powerfull, many wise people see it as the neccesarry compliment to life. In the south, its mention is considered offensive and extremely unlucky. It is represented by a dead dry leaf falling into space. Occasionally, people claim to see this event, and it is supposidly a horrid omen. Cold winter nights without a moon are said to be when Black Cold reigns strongest, as death occurs most often then in the natural world.

Churches

Black Veil

Small sized worship community

This church is considered vile by any living being with any standard of living. They are often associated with massive cult suicides and killings, as they worship death itself. Even undead are considered wrong in the eyes of the black veil, and are destroyed at sight. No societies allow for the worship, but cults spring up from time to time. The only place a sanctioned place of worship exists is in Gry. In the south, in a remote island, a single church exists. They communicate extensively and see to it that life seizes to exist in Therra. While they are a tiny establishment, the members are extremely powerful and committed to the mission of darkness.
