Mithril Hall

History

Mithril Hall, originally founded by Bruner Hammerfoot, started out as a small province within the depths of a brutally cold mountain range. The original hilly homes of the dwarves was not nearly established enough for the likes of them. They needed industry, an organized government, and some sort of resources. The pre-Mithril Hall dwarves were naturally adept at mining and such, however it would go to waste as the orcs would come and pillage the small dwarven hills, and strip them of their goods. One Bruner Hammerfoot, a young, sturdy miner got infuriated at the constant attacks. After a while he was preaching to the fellow dwarves of a new location he had heard of, and that they should establish themselves there. Out of the entire community, 23 dwarves went. This included Bruner, 9 other miners, 2 craftsman, 5 farmers, 4 women for reproduction, and 2 wealthy merchants who would fund the whole project.

So they went off and ventured for months. On the trail, 2 farmers died along with 3 miners. Once they arrived to this mountainous region, they began by building a small hall where they would all sleep. For the time being they slept in a small cave. After about 2 weeks of collection resources and endless construction, they finished building a tiny hall. There was plenty of room around for expansion, however the few Dwarves were happy at just the sight of the finished hall. They slept there for quite some time. The Merchants went back to town and started advertising for the small province they were creating. The Merchants stayed in the dwarven hills for 2 weeks and collected 200 dwarves. They ventured back.

By the time of arrival, what had once just been a hall now had 3 small homes, and 2 small farms. The second the second swarm of dwarves got there, they got to work. The mining production became very high. Slowly, small shops began to open. Slowly, the population grew and people would venture back to the hills to collect dwarves for population spikes. What started out as a small community was turning into something big? Bruner being the king, appointed his first two politicians. The two merchants were his political advisors. He would let the people know the problem, and they would speak out about it. That would be their political system for the time being. Now he had to work on a proper defense.

At the mere size of 2,200 Bruner needed some help defending this province. There had not yet been a raid yet on what was yet to be named, but some of the dwarven scouts informed Bruner that they had seen small orc villages not too far away. Bruner thought he had escaped the orcs. Bruner had heard of the great Valde Dumblefoot, a powerful ranking general amongst the dwarves. Young Bruner needed to meet this Dumblefoot, and get his help. After a while the Dwarves finally found him. He agreed to meet with Bruner. Known as the “Valde Habitum” conference, the end of the meeting proved to be a great diplomatic success. Bruner managed to convine Dumblefoot to bring down a large Dwarven cannon regiment, along with soldiers.

The population kept growning, and Valde kept training the up and coming Dwarves. The community grew, and the hall they had build was now called "Mithril Hall" due to the fact that it was now reinforced with 100% Mithril, and the fact that it was build on top of a mithril ore deposit, which has been excavated and is constantly being mined by thousands of dwarves at a time. Bruner now needed more land. He, instead of playing defensive, now got aggresive. He overwhelmed three orc encampments with massive amounts of cannon power. Bruner had just fought his first battle and won. Valde now called in for reinforcements to meet the large size of the ever so rapidly growing dwarven kingdom. Other cities started hearing of this mysterious Dwarven land. Maddox Gate did some research and was now looking to trade for the massive amounts of unused adamantine. Meanwhile, Stumblefoot, and Dumblefoot who kept leading attacks on orc encampments, absolutely ran-sacked villages, and the community kept growing. At this offer, Stumblefoot started to get more and more from other cities. Stumblefoot got his two political advisors (the merchants), they did some research and found out that there was a mithril shortage coming about throughout Therra. So Stumblefoot held off the deal until the shortage was at a high, and then he sold 98% of the mithril and made an enormous amount of money. The Dwarves from that genuis move, flourished. Stumblefoot was patient and it payed off...literally. It was now officially a kingdom. A small judicial branch that consisted of three judges was opened by Stumblefoot.

In the later years of the Stumblefoot era, a mysterious elf entered the kingdom. Being a friendly kingdom, they accepted him. He said he went by the name of Selnai, and something about him always made the dwarves suspicious. However, he offered to be a free lance soldier, no pay, just simply allowing him to fight to defeat the orcs. Stumblefoot accepted, however kept a constant eye on this lone wolf. Battles kept on occuring between the dwarves and the orcs, and Selnai was a great helping hand. Stumblefoot always took a role in the battles and chose to lead the calvary. Valde was the overall general. Selnai quickly became the officer of the bow unit, as he proved to be the most abled shot. After what became known as the 20 years war, there was still a large mithril deposit if the dwarves could get, they could have complete and supreme control of the mountains. This battle over the deposit became known as "The Great Mithril War". 3 years of battling and the dwarves claimed victory as Selnai's sword pierced the heart of great orc general Krub'alash. Bruner being the peaceful man that he was, only forced the brutal orcs into manual labor. They were chained up and task masters beat them severely. Selnai left, and he will always be remembered by the Dwarves. A massive statue of Bruner Stumblefoot wielding his hammer is directly in the front of Mithril Hall, to his back left stands Valde with a Claymore wielded, and to his back right is an elf with a hood on, bearing a bow and arrow, and drawing the string in the distance. Today only one of them may live, the mysterious elf. Bruner died shortly after the battle and granted his son leadership. Dwarves from around the world came to Mithril Hall, as it now officially came to be, and it grew even more rapid than before. The actual original hall was constantly under construction, it is heavily guarded, and it is now the official home of the dwarves. It is mainly underground, as most of the work is done under there. Over the years, the Mithril Hall kingdom quickly expanded economically, socially, and geographically. They are the number one mining kingdom in Therra.

He had arranged for the dwarves to have been paid well over a million gold pieces and premium real estate within MG for completing the 50 mile wall, which took about 80 years of hard dwarven work. It is considered a marvel at how effeciently they did the wall, and dwarves take great pride in the quality. The wall has lasted centuries of wear and tear, without much more than a single section needing repairs
