The Magisters of Casus

Originally founded by world renound bard and historian Larson Halloy, it was originally known as the "Fabula Meeting" which literally translates to "Story Meeting" was planned simply as a hall for the most famous of bards who would share their stories, correct eachother if any error, and go around for another year telling the new stories they learned, and then report back to do it again. This went on for some time until a young gnomish bard came to the event one year. The powerful guards at the entrance of the building in which they met (unknown) stopped this young visiter. They said "Halt!, what the hell is a little scoundrel gnome doing around here"? The young gnome, roughly the age of 14 replied "I simply want to visit my father, Franklin Silver". They replied "Ha!, Franklin Silver...your father, you make me laugh! This is a royal palace, and a nobles meeting is currently going on. Franklin Silver who you claim to be your father has never been here." The young gnome knew about Franklin Silver, as he had been studying him his whole life and knew that these guards were payed to cover up the bards meeting. The boy said, "I go by the name of Gerrard Silver" obviously bluffing. Ask me any story told by my father and I will surely repeat it word for word. So the guards asked him about the battle of the gauntlet, ever so famously told by Franklin Silver, and the young gnome recited it beautifully, word for word. The guards were astonished, and Gerrard Silver then said "Please, no longer will you insult me for a dirty scoundrel. Let me in". So the boy was let in, and he snuck to the top, with parchment and a leaf with ink and recorded every word of every story he heard. For he knew, that he had true charisma and could tell a story. At the end of the meeting, the boy snuck out behind Franklin Silver, unnoticed by the guards and slipped into the back of Franklins wagon. After a couple of hours the boy tapped Silver on the shoulder. Franklin had his guards chain him up when they got back, and the little gnome asked to speak with him. Franklin, a gnome himself, was so impressed by this young boy, he took him under his wing an apprentice bard. The boy went by the name of Gerrard Silver and by the age of 17 quickly gained the reputation of Gerrard "Swift Song" Silver. He told stories with his father until he was 30, and then moved out and got married. Him and his father always were always very close and at family events told the entire family funny, sad, and violent stories that would always keep the family entertained. Gerrard, at the age of 34 was invited to the famous meeting. He was in shock and went happily. Over the next decade he would be promoted to vice-president of the committee, where he appointed his father to councilman. After the death of Larson Halloy, Gerrard right fully took the leading role in the meetings where he promoted his father to vice-president. He turned this mere meeting into a consistent guild, known as the "Magisters of Casus", which means the "Teachers of History". They are stationed in Maddock's Gate, and have a story telling festival in the begining of every season. Before his death, Gerrard made a second guild for the up and coming of the bards called "Fabula Congressus" so they could get a head start on their career, which is exactly what Gerrard wanted, a larger community of bards. The guild has been around for roughly 1,200 years, and outside of their meeting mansion, is a statue of Gerrard "Swift Song" Silver and his father Franklin Silver. The guild is still growing, as members from "Fabula Congressus" are now becoming elite enough to join. Gerrard "Swift Song" Silver will always have a place in every bards heart.
