Background Information

              Kato Marimech was born into a tight-knit family of Dromites that lived on their own. His exact location of birth is unknown, however it is know that his family had no single home. Starting at a young age, Kato was indulged into the cultures and climates of the world, as his family moved from place to place. Unlike most famous adventurers of Therra, Kato had no tragedies occur to him in his youth. At about 18 years old, Kato split from his family to make his own way in this world. By this point Kato had already been considered the most powerful psion of his family. Immediately upon departing with his family, Kato began travelling the world once again, but this time accumulating rare trinkets found about Therra. After about 4 years of peddling his trinkets, maps, stories, and advice, his skill at wayfaring caught the attention of the House i'Danterus of 3-Rivers. He was commissioned on the spot as a royal explorer for 3-Rivers, compiling data ranging from historical findings to even information on the Kingdom's enemies. He quickly grew bored of royal work, however, and retired back into his own travels. Over the years Kato grew in power and fame, and many young adventurers are inspired by Marimech. His fame really began to pick up after he began interplanar travel and exploration. Hes written many a book about the different planes he has visited. His first hand accounts go beyond the melancholy descriptive tone of the ancient tomes of wizards. He recently opened up a shop in the hub of Maddock's Gate where he sells maps, books, stories, and primarily extremely rare trinkets that he find not only in Therra but across the planar landscape as well.

             His shop, New Horizons, is only open for about 20 days out of the year. The rest of the time, Kato continues his travels abroad, and is expanding his knowledge base about the different planes. Kato is loved by nearby merchants because the 20 days that his shop is open are usually the busiest days of the year for the merchants. Nobles and scholars alike flock to his storefront to purchase anything wondrous that is still for sale. Aside from the usual rare trinkets he sells, Kato manages to sell 1 or 2 one-of-a-kind trinkets each year. His shop supplies the revenue for Kato to continue his travels.

             Kato Marimech has now reached fame status as an explorer, only behind the great Tomkey. Many rumor that someday Kato will surpass Tomkey as the ultimate explorer (although highly unlikely). Kato's travels have spawned almost fan clubs for him, and many rumors are created about his travels. Some say that he is the only living being to have travelled to the mysterious Hadozee island (although he doubts those claims himself). If nothing else, his travels provide a vast resource for aspiring bards to sing and write about.
